Australia's favourite Broadway and international theatre son and superstar, MiG Ayesa, is in town.  MiG is here to have quality time with his family while Broadway is quiet for the present time.

MiGs fans would be thrilled to know that they have a chance of watching him in Your Songs: The Music of Elton John Orchestrated to be held, for one night only, on March 26, 2021 at the State Theatre.

MiG will be with a Special Guest Vocalist with Damien Leith, Harrison Craig, and Darren Percival to perform Sir Elton John's greatest hits, backed by a 24 Piece Symphony Orchestra under the baton of the legendary George Ellis.

The Australian Filipina caught up with MiG and asked him a couple of questions and we are glad to share his responses with his fans.

Before Elton John Music, what other concerts / events have you collaborated with George Ellis?

We actually first worked together on a pro-am production of GREASE way back when I was just 16 years old. I was still in high school, and George was at the Conservatorium of Music. I played the part of Sonny, one of the T-BIRDS and George was the bass player in the band! We became good friends then but lost contact through the years. No Facebook, or emails… or even mobile phones then. It was just the way it was.

It wasn’t until I started seeing these posts on Instagram of this uber-cool conductor with the flowing hair and rock n roll sensibilities that we got in contact again. In fact, I’m not even sure how the story goes, but when it became apparent to me who he was and that we had worked together all these years ago, we immediately picked up where we left off. We may have been a lot older, but he was still the super sweet and funny guy I had met doing GREASE.

Then I get this message from him enquiring if I would be interested in doing a concert to celebrate the music of GEORGE MICHAEL. Better yet, it was to be a symphonic concert of his music. I was always a huge GM fan so immediately said “YES!”. We performed this concert in 2019 with the Willoughby Symphony with plans to do more concerts in 2020. Then Covid came…

What do you look forward to the Elton John music concert?

I am so excited to work with George Ellis again. I will work with him any where, any time, on anything! I also happen to be a huge ELTON JOHN fan. His catalogue of songs is breathtaking. He’s a legend. I can’t wait to hear George’s arrangements.

It’s also at the STATE THEATRE!! One of the most beautiful and over the top lavish theatres in Australia. I haven’t worked there since 1996 when I did THE MUSIC OF ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER with Anthony Warlow and Sarah Brightman.

I am also so eager to work with this incredible line up of Damien Leith, Harrison Craig and Darren Percival. I worked with Darren years ago in 1991 in a short-lived Channel 7 TV music show called HITS AND MEMORIES. I also love performing back in my home town. I hope this opens up more opportunities to do some more work in Australia.

MiG's enthusiasm is also getting us excited to watch him in this event. Hope to see as many kababayans enjoy our talented artist continually doing us proud. Book your tickets here.
