The Pinoys are slowly gaining attention in the international culinary world with our food touted as “the next big thing” by the likes of Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmern. But wouldn’t it be exciting as we go “off-centre” and introduce an enticing take on a standard gathering staple – beer!

Welcome Six String Brewing Co.’s “Pinoy Fiesta” – a pineapple gose which is a German style beer that’s brewed primarily with wheat. It often has a sour ‘twang’ to it and a strong saltiness.  This was created by the husband and wife team of Chris and Sharon Benson with their team of brewers and their best friend Adam Klasterka. “So imagine being in the Philippines and experiencing the refreshing flavours of pineapple sprinkled with salt on a hot humid day. Essentially what we have as the end product is a refreshing and thirst-quenching beer that has a delicate salty tang and subtle tartness from the added pineapple juice. A beer first but subtle flavours reminiscent of the Philippines, “ explains Sharon who runs the marketing and design aspects such as creating the seasonal can designs.

“Pinoy Fiesta” is a limited release beer and has been canned in 375 ml cans and also available on tap. You can check it out via their website: www.sixstringbrewing.com.au. It will also go out to venues primarily on the Central Coast, Newcastle and Sydney and limited amounts going to Victoria and ACT. This seasonal brew has a limited stock and will be brewed again by 2022 around the same time.

Six String Brewing Co.’s core range beers (On Tour, Pale Ale, TPA, Coastie and Dark Red)are available year-round and distributed primarily across NSW available in bigger chains such as Dan Murphy’s, BWS, Vintage Cellars etc as well as independent bottleshops. They also make a Lemonade full of fresh local Lemons.

So why don't you give it a go? Check it out and tell us what you think.
