NSW Premier Gladys Berjerklian announced at the media briefing today, July 31 the further tightening of restrictions within the 8 Local Government Areas declared to be in lockdown.

These restrictions included: the reduction of the distance to 5km from the home of the residents from the previous allowed distance of 10km and the compulsory wearing of masks as soon as residents go out of their home.  

The eight LGAs of concern in Sydney are: Blacktown, Campbelltown, Canterbury-Bankstown, Cumberland, Fairfield, Georges River, Liverpool and Parramatta.

The stay home order for the LGAs in lockdown are to be enforced by the Police.  Residents are only allowed to leave their home to go to work if:

  • the business is allowed to be open
  • you cannot reasonably work from home  
  • your workplace is in the same local government area in which you live. 

If your workplace is in a different local government area to where you live, you can only leave your home to go to work if you are an authorised worker.


The number of positive cases in the last 24 hours to 170 from 239 from the previous count.

In terms of vaccination, the total number of vaccines administered in NSW is now 3,732,331, with 1,446,995 doses administered by NSW Health to 8pm last night and 2,285,336 administered by the GP network and other providers to 11.59pm on Wednesday 28 July 2021.
