Jasmine Henry, Sydney's child prodigy and now a young artist doing well in the Philippines, has recently added another feather in her cap.  Jasmine is one of nine artists nominated as Best New Artist of the Year in the 33rd ALIW AWARDS.  She and mother Pin Montemayor were pleasantly surprised when they were advised that she is amongst being recognised by the Aliw Awards Foundation, Inc. The Foundation is the first and only award giving body for live entertainers in the Philippines. It is non stock , non profit private organisation which started in 1976 .

Jasmine's nomination for Aliw Award was for her performance in her solo concert and other shows, Mahal Ko Ang Aking Pangarap.  This song was composed by Annabelle Regalado Borja, with music collaboration with Sherwin Castillo and was produced by Marcus Davis, an American record producer based in the Philippines.

" I am extremely happy and of course honoured to be nominated this year for the 2020 Aliw awards as best new female artist. The Aliw Awards is such a prestigious award night. Being young and receiving recognition is so heart warming and I am so grateful! Winner or not, it is truly an honour to be a nominee."

At the young age of sixteen years and within the two years that Jasmine Henry and her mother Pin Montemayor left Sydney in 2018 for the Philippines, Jasmine has accomplished many things that youngsters of her age could only dream of.  In the span of that time, she has held her solo concert held at SM Dome, has performed on invitation in a number of concerts, released two singles, became a part of a Music Ministry, endorsed several products and services, and not to forget modelled creations of world top avant garde fashion designer Rocky Gathercole who dresses the who's who of the showbiz and the fashion world.

Last year, she was also nominated as Best Female Recording Artist in the 33rd Awit Awards with her own composition of Playing with Fire.  It did not matter to her that she did not win the title as she appreciated the recognition accorded to her and her original song.

Wait there's more!!  We saw postings on social media about Jasmine being currently involved in the movie of the life of Victor Wood.  She is playing the part of the iconic entertainer Pilita Corrales who had a great impact on the music career of legendary Victor Wood. GMA Artist Marin Escudero plays the role of Victor Wood.

We sent Jasmine a congratulatory note and asked her what it is like to be in that role.

"Thank you very much! Well, actually there are many things that I enjoy about playing the iconic Miss Pilita Coralles. Firstly, I am loving her fashion sense! I am always excited for our looks on set. Another thing, for my role I had to learn the Visayan accent. It is quite fun and I hope I have done it justice! Overall, just by studying Miss Pilita for this movie, I have picked up on new vocal techniques and even the way she moves on stage."

It does not end there. One more good news about this talented artist is that she is now officially under Cornerstone management.  Cornerstone's stable includes Catriona Gray, Pia Wurtzbac, Kris Aquino and other well known artists.  No doubt, there will be more projects for Jasmine with this alignment with a powerhouse in the entertainment world.
