The bilateral relation between the Philippines and Australia was established when Australia opened a Consulate General in Manila on 22 May 1946. This year marks the 75th anniversary of this significant formal start of the two countries' reciprocal diplomatic, political, economic and social initiatives. The anniversary is being celebrated in the Philippines and Australia.

For the month of May 2021, the Philippine Consulate General in Sydney features on its Facebook page messages  from Consular and other government officials, community leaders and members of the media, and entrepreneurs

The first message is from Consul General Ezzedin Tago who acknowledged the significant contributions of the Filipino community to the political, economic and socio-cultural milieu of Australian society, and at the same time appreciating the opportunities Australia has provided to Filipinos.

The messages on the Consulate's page as of this writing include (in the order of publication):

There is a planned online concert on May 29 as part of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Philippine-Australian bilateral relations.   The concert will be Directed by Mr. Chi De Jesus and to be hosted by Ms. Michelle Baltazar. There will be performances by the Sydney Sonata singers, PLCAA, Novy Bereber Dance Troupe, Yapak and Mr. Miguel Castro.   This will be posted on 29 May 2021 at 6:00pm.
