Philippine-Australian opera singer and musical theatre performer Marcus Rivera is gearing up to mesmerise audiences with his captivating performances at Riverside this month.

His highly anticipated concert, titled ‘Uncovered’, will be held on Sunday, May 12 (Mother’s Day) and Sunday, May 19 in a matinee performance starting 2.30pm at the Lennox Theatre. The show will feature soulful ballads that tug at the heartstrings to infectious rhythms that will have audiences dancing in their seats.

With his unparalleled talent and dynamic stage presence, Marcus Rivera is one of the most recognisable faces in the Filipino-Australian community. He played ‘Elias’ in the Sydney production of ‘Noli’; ‘Jovy Ejercito’ in award-nominated play ‘Ate Lovia’ and as lead actor in the award-winning short film ‘Tom Girl’.

In musical theatre, he has performed in local productions of the Beautiful, the Carole King Musical, Anything Goes, The King & I and the NZ production of Miss Saigon.

"I am excited to be onstage to perform a very different repertoire, with help from local and international composers to create music coming from my opera background and my Filipino heritage," said Marcus Rivera. "It's always a pleasure to connect with my fans and supporters through music, and I can't wait to share this experience with them."

Featured guest is singer and actress Chaya Ocampo, who recently performed in Godspell at Hayes Theatre Co. and in Sydney Theatre Company’s Chimerica.

Concert director is Chi de Jesus from Monster Minds and musical director is Ellen Buckley.
