Jojo Sebastian has added another feather on his cap with his win as Mr Diamond International 2021 in the recent finals of the competition where he participated as Mr Diamond International Australia. The two day event was held in Parliament House, Brisbane during 17th and 18th April 2021.
Not only did he win the title, Jojo also bagged almost all of the Special Awards - Mr Diamond Designer King; Mr Diamond Congeniality; Mr Diamond Public’s Choice; Mr Diamond Talent King; Mr Diamond Social Media King; Mr Diamond Runway King; Mr Diamond Interview King; Mr Diamond Pageant Planet Choice; and Mr Diamond Publicity King.
Jojo Sebastian is unstoppable! Before his amazing achievements in the recent competition, examples of awards he garnered in the last two years include two years as Pageant Host of the Year (2019-2020), World Championship of Performing Arts National Finalist 2020 and Community Leadership Award from the Filipino Sports, Arts and Recreation Club [FILSPARC].
The Australian Filipina caught up with Jojo upon his return from Brisbane. We are glad to share his responses to a few questions to gain an insight about his recent accolades.
*What does winning the title and the numerous special awards mean to you?
The title and special awards mean so much more to me than just the prestige and stature. Personally, winning Mr Diamond International 2021 has brought so much pride and fulfilment for me. Furthermore, It has substantiate and legitimise my hard work. However, the most important and exciting part for me are the opportunities that this platform will bring to my advocacies and charities.

How did you feel leading up to the finals? Did you think you will win? To be honest, I never imagined myself going back in Pageantry as a candidate. I was satisfied and contented being the master of ceremonies of various pageant in the past 4 years. However, the calling to throw my towel in this pageant was very adamant and strong so, with the encouragement of my friends in the community, I did. I was the most nervous during the week leading up to the finals.
The day of the finals brought back so many emotions when I last joined a pageant in the Philippines in 1994 where I placed first runner up. In regards of winning the pageant, I will be lying if I said I never thought of winning because it's the ultimate reward in any competition. However, winning for me became secondary after meeting the other candidates and the friendship that was formed.

What would you be taking away from your Mr Diamond International experience? It's the experience, the forged friendship, and the opportunities that will result in the winning this pageant

What is your message to those who may be interested in joining similar events but are hesitant? To always take risks and gamble on yourself because in taking risks opportunities and chances arises in the most unexpected ways.
