There are a couple of Filipino and Asian stores in Australia that sell DVDs, VCDs and videos of Filipino movies and TV shows. It’s worth checking out the ones nearest you to see if they have it. Some even rent them out. But if you want to own a collection then it’s worth ordering them yourself.

Ask your family in the Philippines to send them over to you here in Australia. Customs is okay with shipping DVDs as long as it’s not pirated. However, if you prefer DVDs with English subtitles so you can share the movie with your non Filipino friends and extended family members here in Australia, then it’s worth buying them online. There are a couple of sites you can go to. One is Divisoria.com. Under the DVD movies section, there is a sub section called English subtitles. It’s quite limited but you will find some good stuff there like Dekada 70. ABS-CBN also has an online store for Australia (www.starry-starry.com.au). They’re postage cost will probably be cheaper but the range is smaller since it’s only limited to movies that ABS-CBN produced. Other sites you can visit also include the Regal Films website.

As for CDs and books, the sites mentioned above also have a range of Pinoy CDs and literature to choose from. Some are also available on Amazon.com. If you make a search for Filipino products online, make sure you check the authenticity of the websites you’re ordering from. You can’t be too safe in making sure that they’re not ripping you off, especially since these sites require credit card payments.

Shipping cost is around US$4-7 but check out the specifics on each site before you order. Some sites increase their shipping cost depending on how many items you are buying.
