The Philippine Consulate General in Sydney supports the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women.  The  campaign is being undertaken during 26 November to 12 December.

This year's campaign shall spotlight on R.A. 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act aiming to raise awareness of the general public and the institutions that are mandated to implement the law.

The Australian Filipina is hopeful that with more awareness campaigns which provide informaton that women would feel supported and empowered to seek help when confronted by a violent environment. Our readers would remember the case of Cherry Gerente-Ogar who was allegedly bashed within an inch of her life by her husband, Antony Ogar who was subsequently charged for her murder.  This happened in July this year in South Australia.
