The Philippine Consulate General in Sydney will be showing a video of indigenous attire which are showcased in  Arts, Culture & Innovation (commonly referred to as 'ACI Central') premises established by the Affiliation of Respectable and Responsible Associations (NARRA) and Plaza Filipino, at 6pm on Friday, October 29, 2021.

The video was taken at the visit at ACI Central by Consul Melanie Diano, Cultural Attache Nova de Lara and two consular staff visited on October 20.  The video will be shown at the Consulate's Sentro Central FB page https://www.facebook.com/SentroRizalSydney

This is part of the Consulate's celebration of the National Indigenous Peoples (IP) Month (October) in pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 1906 signed in 2009 wherein the Constitution mandates the “recognition and protection of the rights of Indigenous Cultural Communities/ Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs)”.

The Philippine National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA) has featured the theme of this year’s Dayaw, “Katutubong Filipino: Atin ang Tagumpay!”, which highlights the ways in which Philippine indigenous peoples firmly manifest their optimism, views, and practices or their “strategies of prevailing” in the midst of adversities.
