From 1st June 2020, up to 50 people at any one time will be allowed to attend places of worships and funerals. The social distancing requirement of 4 square metres per person will still need to be observed. So far masses and funeral memorial services had been shared to congregations and families through live streaming by the respective places.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced last week that also effective from 1st June, regional travel within NSW is allowed. The lifting of the holiday travel restriction is much awaited by people wanting to get a much needed break and by the small businesses in the hospitality and tourism industry. There is optimism with the positive ripple effect to employment and improvement of the economy with this relaxation of controls.

Social distancing requirements are still in place in public transport. Capacity in buses are limited to 12 whereas trains are limited to 32 passengers per carriage. It is expected that 'work from home' arrangements would continue for a lot of businesses. NSW Health is again urging anyone feeling unwell – even with the mildest of symptoms such as a runny nose or scratchy throat – to come forward and get tested, so cases in the community are identified as quickly as possible.

Nearly 465,000 COVID-19 tests have now been carried out in NSW. The table below shows breakdown of results of tests and count of deaths and cases.*

Confirmed cases (incl. interstate residents in NSW health care facilities) 3,089

Deaths (in NSW from confirmed cases) 50

Cases reported recovered 2,663

Total people tested 433,694

Total tests carried out 464,351
