Last February 26, the Australian Filipina was invited to the press conference relaunching the international competition Mrs. Universe with its new National Director Beau Singson. The invitation was sent by MENM Productions headed by realty maven Len Puzon for the pageant’s official franchise holder.

The Mrs. Universe International Pageant is based in Sofia, Bulgaria and has been creating pageants for the last 15 years (2007 – 2022). Their aim is to find the most honourable married (or once married) woman between the ages of 18 and 55. This comes from their belief that married women who have devoted their lives to family and their significant charitable institution may have a louder voice and strength in purpose in the international stage.

Several representatives have been sent to this pageant  representing Australia for the past years including Australian-Filipina Gliselle Santos Ramos who received the Business Lady Award 2019 in Guangzhou, China. For the delayed pageant of 2021 this will be held in June, 2022 in Seoul, Korea with Kristine “Tootsie” Aseron Santos as the official candidate of Australia. Also announced in the press conference was Linda Marie Gorton as Mrs. Universe of Australia for 2022 (pageant details to be announced soon).

Headed by Owner and President of the Mrs. Universe LTD, Sava Tsekov, the international organisation awarded the franchise to Ms. Singson on the 31st of December 2021. Now officially known as the Mrs. Universe of Australia Organisation (MUAO) under the Mrs. Universe Ltd, the official international beauty competition from Bulgaria, the pageant aims to send empowered Australian women who have the dedication to inspire, the devotion to lead and the passion to serve as a Queen responsible and focused in changing the world by providing a voice to the oppressed and marginalised women around the world.

In a phone interview with Mr. Tsekov, he clarified that the current MUA organisation is the only official organisation acknowledged by the international pageant and Ms. Aseron-Santos, the only official candidate representing Australia. This came about after the members of the press clarified the existence of another Sydney-based organisation holding the same title. According to Sava, “This is not our event (referring to the other pageant) I want to tell everyone and I don’t want the people to be confused that this is the event [that] our company does (sic).” Mr. Tsekov further clarified that they do not have any other relations with other organisations after terminating the directorship of the earlier group that sent delegates to the Mrs. Universe competition.

Currently, preparations are being made with the guidance of MUOA National Director Beau Singson for the current Ms. Universe of Australia, Kristine Aseron-Santos. Beau is not a stranger to competitions having been a Mrs. Universe competitor too in 2018 when she represented the Philippines. According to Beau, “age is not a barrier to reach our dreams or have an impact on others. The Mrs. Universe of Australia is the voice of all mothers in showing that nothing is impossible with hard work and determination.”
