Fifteen year old Trinity Young of Central Coast has added two more awards in her collection of trophies, plaques and citations. The talented young artist who will be in Year 11 at St Mary Mackillop College received recently two top awards from her school. One of these is the Overall Performing Arts Award.
Trinity surprised her parents with her award by sending by phone a photo of her receiving the award. What does the award mean to her?
"It means the world to me to be able to receive this award is such a blessing. I’m really grateful for the amazing peers and teachers that I surround myself with, to be able to be the best person I can be and show my talent of performing arts."
Trinity is equally thrilled to have her name on the perpetual trophy with her name along with the previous awardees. Although only in Year 10 and there is an OPA for Year 10, she got the overall school OPA. And coindentally, the Year 10 recipient of OPA is the voice student of her mother, June Young.
She was also one of the twenty two students from her school which received the Group Award at the 2020 OzTheatrics Junior Theatre Festival Australia.
Her second top recognition is the 2020 Mary MacKillop Award which she is also proud to have received.
We asked her mother June, what Trinity's awards mean to her as Trinity's mother and as her vocal teacher.
June said: "As a parent, l am proud of her medal for Academic Excellence Awards. This award is given to students who have 3 or more academic achievements. As her Vocal Coach, l am extremely proud because her achievements reflects how l teach her. She also works hard as a singer and as a performer which is one of the most beautiful thing to watch as her coach."
But wait there's a lot lot more!!! In addition to the these top awards, Trinity also received numerous recognition for excellence in her academic work, drama, community service and religious study.
