Less than a fortnight to go before scholarship applications supporting women on company boards close.
The applications for the Australian Institute of Company Directors’ Board Diversity Scholarship Program 2012/2013 program closes October 11.
The Program, which aims to lift the representation of women on Australian boards, provides 70 high performing women with a scholarship to complete to the Australian Institute of Company Directors’ highly regarded Company Directors Course or Mastering the Boardroom program.
Assisted by $225,000 in funding from the Australian Government, scholarship recipients will also receive 12 months membership of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
“We have already received nearly 1000 expressions of interest in this scholarship program from women across the country,” said John Colvin, chief executive and managing director, Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Scholarships will be awarded to women from diverse backgrounds across Australia seeking to develop or further extend their professional directorship careers. Applicants should have considerable experience to enable them to successfully complete course requirements and demonstrate a high degree of leadership potential and capacity.
The Board Diversity Scholarship Program is just one in a range of Company Directors’ initiatives aiming to improve the gender diversity of Australian boards.
“And we continue to assist boards to identify potential new directors by assessing a wide candidate pool through our Directorship Opportunities service," said Colvin.
