Preparations are in full swing for the conference on the "Diaspora to Development: A Global Summit of the Filipino in the Diaspora", which will be held on 27-29 September 2011 at the Philippine International Convention Center, Manila. This conference is organised by the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO).

In conjunction with the conference, the CFO has also launched a program called Youth Leaders in the Diaspora or YouLeaD, in recognition of the youth's vital role in the country’s migration and development agenda.

This initiative will take two forms: first is the nine-day YouLeaD Experience where 100 Filipino youth leaders, aged 16-34 years old from across the globe, will gather on 22-30 September 2011 in Manila and Palawan; and second is the participation of the YouLeaD  in the Global Summit.

Among the activities listed in the nine-day itinerary include an eco-tour of Palawan, a trip to an underground river, in Palawan and, in Manila, a tour of Intramuros and an opportunity to meet with senators.
