The Philippine Consulate General in Sydney has released information on total number of people affected by the typhoon and how Filipino-Australians can lend aid directly to Philippine-based banks and charities.

According to the Situational Report No. 12 dated 11 November 2013 from the Philippine National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on the effects of Typhoon “Yolanda’ (Haiyan), there are 255 individuals reported dead, 71 injured and 38 missing (Editor's note: recent stats are more alarming, with 10,000-plus feared dead, but reports remain unverified).

A total of 2,095,262 families or9,677,059 persons were affected in 471 municipalities and 51 cities in 41 provinces (CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Western and Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao and Southern Mindanao).

Of those affected, 128,303 families or 615,774 persons were displaced and served both in side and outside evacuation centres.

As per the Philippine Red Cross, those with family members residing in the affected areas in the Philippines may avail of the  Social Services Restoring Family Links and Tracing Services of the Philippine Red Crossthrough the number +613 917 532 8500
