Chandeliers, shimmering gowns and a whole lot of sheer. Bing Cristobal's debut fashion show in Sydney had all the right elements on and off the runway.

The Manila-based fashion designer, who is known for dressing up beauty queens and celebrities, has had a long-distance love affair with Australia since 2013.

Last night, he showed all his affections and more in a collection that proved why he is a stylist to the stars. As a wardrobe stylist for major TV network ABS-CBN and gown designer for pageant winners Shamcey Supsup-Lee (third runner-up, Miss Universe 2011) and Megan Young (Miss World 2013), to name a few, Bing is at his best when designing showstoppers.

The show kicked off with his teen cocktail collection followed by the velvet gown collection, a fresh interpretation of the classic black gown and the crowd favourite - evening wear made of sheer and mesh fabric.

For men, he put together a collection of traditional Filipino wear called 'barong' and two-piece suits with a mix of traditional and modern look.

For the finale, Bing showcased bridal wear and took the opportunity onstage to thank guests for their support.

There was plenty of X-factor on the night. Star Magic actress Ingrid dela Paz (Tubig at Langis, Pasion de Amor) and transgender beauty queen/actress/author Trixie Maristela (2015 Miss International Queen) flew all the way from the Philippines to be part of the model line-up while local teen artist Jasmine Henry, 2015 Star Central Male Model of the Year David Delaney and 2016 Miss Teen Australasia Tamara Reynolds among those on the runway.

But the night wasn't just about fashion. The organisers held an auction for a stunning gown, previously worn by reigning Miss Universe winner Pia Wurtzbach, with proceeds to go towards ASK Foundation, a local charity supported by the Filipino-Australian community.

The show was directed by Albert Prias from Flagcom. Prias and fellow Flagcom founder Charles Chan hosted the night's program. David Michael White and Elysa Villareal were among the guest performers.
